Continuing our celebration of the incredible women reshaping the glassblowing world (check out Part 1 for features on Beezy Glass, Glass Berry Cupcake, and Chillery Bogart), we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on a few more talented female artists we proudly feature at Tako Glass. These creators bring their own distinctive visions, drawing from personal journeys, nature, heritage, and bold innovation to craft functional glass that’s as meaningful as it is mesmerizing. The rise of women in this field continues to inspire us, proving that creativity knows no boundaries when passion meets skill.

Glass Happy

Adrienne Ladd, the artist behind Glass Happy (often known as “Adro” or by her signature “Bacon Face” motif), is a resilient and creative force in the glassblowing community, with a glassblowing career spanning since 2009. Originally from the coast of Massachusetts, Adrienne’s entry into glassblowing was born out of necessity as a young mother seeking a flexible path to raise her child on her own terms. Her unconventional journey took her through Maine, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and back to Maine, where she now resides and creates. Along the way, she’s overcome significant health challenges, including an auto-immune disease, by prioritizing diet, mindset, and environmental changes to sustain her passion for the craft.

Adrienne’s work is playful, bold, and deeply personal, often featuring her iconic “Bacon Face” designs—whimsical, bacon-themed elements that reflect her fun-loving spirit and “bacon on the brain” creativity, as fans affectionately describe it. She specializes in functional glass like pipes, pendants, and sculptural pieces, blending humor with technical skill in vibrant colors and intricate details. Her pieces have been celebrated for their resilience and alignment with life, much like her own story.

Whether it’s a collector-favorite pendant or a conversation-starting functional piece, Glass Happy creations bring joy and personality to any collection, proving that glass can be both artistic and approachable. Sable Haze

Sable Haze, based in Portland, Maine, is a veteran glass artist with over two decades in the craft, known for her evolved yet approachable style that blends influences from nature, art deco, and surrealism. Her pieces feature smooth, flowing shapes and beautifully complemented color schemes that feel both fresh and familiar—perfectly capturing that “evolved, but still with a familiar feel” she describes herself.

Sable’s journey into glass began in Massachusetts, where a chance encounter led to an apprenticeship, sparking a lifelong dedication to the torch. After honing her skills, she relocated to Maine to immerse herself in a vibrant community of glassblowers who support and inspire one another. Today, she creates stunning functional glass, including signature “goddess” forms, spoons and chillums shaped like the female body, as well as elaborate sculptural pieces that highlight her mastery of form and color.

Her work stands out for its graceful lines and thoughtful design, making each item a true conversation piece. Whether you’re drawn to her surreal-inspired ash trays or the elegant goddess motifs, Sable’s glass adds a touch of artistic sophistication to any collection.

Fiona Phoenix Fire

Hailing from Oregon, Fiona Phoenix Fire is a professional glassblower whose work is deeply personal, drawing inspiration from her life experiences, heritage, and the natural world to create truly miraculous functional art. Starting her glass journey alongside her husband (Turtle Time Glass) after a chance meeting at a summer festival, Fiona quickly transitioned to full-time blowing, mastering her craft in their Ashland Art Glass studio.

Her pieces often incorporate stunning dichroic glass that shifts and sparkles like galaxies, along with vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and ceremonial influences—think striped peace pipes, rainbow warrior bubblers, and detailed millie accents. Fiona views glass as a movement that simplifies life and elevates handmade objects, and she loves opening up sacred, communal rituals (like piece pipes) to everyone through her inclusive, beautifully crafted designs. Her mastery shines through in the way she handles color and form, creating pieces that feel both powerful and harmonious.

Fiona’s resilient spirit—rising like a phoenix after personal challenges—infuses her work with meaning and energy, making each one feel alive and intentional.
