Here there be Dragons, where once there were none!
We get asked fairly regularly about bringing back popular items, and we do our best to meet those demands when we can. However, sometimes completing the quest of hunting down a particular piece, or style, isn’t exactly simple. In the case of the Dragon Steamroller, we’ve had quite a few of you inquire about the availability of these pieces. For some time now, our short answer has been ‘No,’ but only because we were unable to track down a hoard of them ourselves!
We looked high(because that’s generally how we do everything around here!) and we even looked low (because dragons have a knack for burrowing into corners, or hiding in plain sight!) and we came up empty handed. With lots of contacts and connections in the glass blowing industry, we were sure we could find a solution, but our previous supplier for these pieces was no longer producing glass. We tried reaching out to a few artists who we thought might be interested in making these, even if it was on a custom manufacturing basis. While we could get one or two made on demand, we weren’t going to be able to order enough pieces to stock them regularly.

Thats where Frank Glass comes in. You might recognize the name ‘Frank Glass’ if you’ve been browsing through our shop recently. We ordered from Frank Glass for the first time this year, and brought in some really fun sculptural pipes. We are stoked on Frank’s GITD lizard and frog spoons, the amazingly brilliant dichroic twisted spoons, and we were especially taken with his colorful translucent sculptural octopus spoons(for the obvious reasons!).
Frank Glass very thoughtfully included a catalog, and as we were perusing the offerings, one thing immediately jumped out at us: Dragons! 🐉 (Talk about a fiery revelation!) The stand-out piece from our first order from Frank was a large Black Slyme Dragon Pipe, but we didn’t put 2 and 2 together until we saw them in the Frank Glass catalog. There they were: Dragon Steamrollers! We knew immediately that you guys were gonna want a chance to own these!

The Dragons have returned!
If anything, these pieces are even more ornate than our previous Dragon Steamroller offerings! Frank’s dragons blend European and Asian depictions together, creating a menacing, yet potentially friendly looking visage of a dragon. From the lifelike eyes, to the subtle sparkle in the scale pattern, to the perfectly flowing whiskers, each detail brings an expressive quality to the sculpture. And all of this is sealed inside the glass tube, like a model sailboat sequestered inside a glass bottle! —or in this case, a mythical beast bottled up, ready to unleash its smoky fury! The end result is a fantastic work of art that is really taken to the next level by also offering amazing function.
We’re fans of steamrollers here, and given by how often we have to restock, it looks like you guys are too! The absolute best part about these Dragon Steamrollers is going to be that first part of the draw, when the smoke rolls out of the dragon’s flared nostrils, and you know that hot breath of a hit is following right behind! That’s the beauty of a steamroller, and this one absolutely will not disappoint! It’s pure dragonfire magic— you puff, he smokes!

These steamrollers are going live today(11/12/25) and if the demand holds, we’ll definitely order more now that we have a consistent supplier! (No more chasing shadows in the dragon’s den!) We’ve only got a few of these at the moment, so if you’re dead set on grabbing one for your own hoard right away, or maybe planning on giving one as a gift this holiday, do not wait! Strike while the, well… the dragon’s breath is hot! Plus, if you order during our Holiday 2025 Promotions, just adding a Dragon Steamroller to your order will qualify you for a bunch of free goodies! You’ll receive the Tako Logo XL Millstone Herb Grinder (free with the purchase of any Heady pipe of $300 and up) plus your cart total will qualify you for a free Tako Chillum, a free pocket spoon pipe, a free handpipe case, and a free full sized spoon too! Available while supplies last, and until the end of the promotional period!

We are always on the lookout for amazing new glass, new glass artists, and new-to-us products that we think you guys will dig, but hearing directly from you is by far the best way for us to gauge interest. If there is a piece we should carry, something we used to carry, or an up and coming artist you think should be on our radar, we urge you to send us a quick email to info@takoglass.com! Or just tell us what you think about this new Dragon Steamroller from Frank Glass! —Will they soar to the top of your hoard, or are we just blowing smoke?
