The Egyptian Fumed Opal Spoon Pipe is an extra-thick original by Tako Glass, weighing in at a hefty 11.5 ounces. This chunky spoon pipe features heavy throughout, with clear glass and intricate fume work giving it that unmistakable Egyptian-style look. Tako’s is one of his signature specialties, taking a cue from the richly decorated glass vessels created by ancient Egyptian artisans while emphasizing ultra-thick construction. It’s a serious handful of glass, with plenty of detail to discover.
Opposite the carb sits a striking planet marble featuring a backed by crushed opal. The layered opal work gives the marble its own little universe of detail, adding a brilliant focal point against the heavily fumed glass.
The silver fume ripples travel along the stem, continuing up through the cap before coming together in a beautiful display of rotational symmetry. The flowing patterns bring the whole design together, with the fume work carrying from one end of the pipe to the other.
The extra-thick construction gives this piece a substantial feel in the hand, while the deep, finger-sized bowl offers plenty of room for a relaxing session or sharing with friends. Between the weight, flowing silver fume, and detailed opal planet, this Egyptian Fumed Opal Spoon Pipe makes a stunning addition to any glass collection.
Fuming performed with vaporized silver, creating a thin metallic layer on hot glass whose final coloration changes according to application, heat history, and surrounding glass.
A signature Tako Glass hand-pipe style defined by exceptionally thick glass construction and a substantial feel in the hand. The name references the tradition of decorative glassmaking in ancient Egypt.
An opal element incorporated into and typically encased within glass as a decorative focal point.
