Check out this amazing Marble Glass Pipe!!! This is a just over two inch borosilicate marble. Super sturdy and so satisfying to hold in the palm of your hand! The anemone made of glass held within the marble is absolutely stunning and mesmerizing to look at. You could stare at this functional work of art for hours!
After heating a gather of glass, small impressions or dents are placed into the clear glass. After which, this surface is colored with gold and silver vapors, in a process called fuming. This layer of color is then trapped, along with an air bubble at each dent, by applying a small dot of clear glass a top each dent.
After the dots are applied, the whole mass is heated in a torch's flame, when the small dots of clear travel into the glass and create the lines of color behind each bubble.
This is further rounded, then, using rods of color, the different rings of color are added to the back. This again is heated, and somewhat rounded. After a series of handle changes, followed by more rounding, the marble is fire polished, and placed into a hot kiln (oven).
While in the hot oven, a digital program controls the temperature of the kiln to first anneal, or relieve stress in the glass with high temperature, then it slowly cools the kiln to not introduce stress back into the marble.
Acrylic stand, shown, included.
Remember, I take these pictures with great care and use lots of lighting to help you see the full beauty of my glass. No tricks, just stock camera phones and light. Don't forget to click on the photos to make them HUGE!

Tako
